ICEH Researcher Leads Training on Health Data Analysis in Kenya
ICEH’s Fernando Cesar Wehrmeister is playing a key role in the technical training meeting "Strengthening the Analysis and Use of Health Information System (HIS) Data for Subnational Institutions." The event, organized by Partners for Health and Development in Africa (PHDA), is being held from March 17 to 23, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
The high-level training aims to strengthen the capacity of subnational institutions across Africa to analyze and use HIS data effectively, fostering evidence-based decision-making and improving health outcomes. Wehrmeister is sharing his expertise to empower participants to leverage health data for impactful research and programming.
The initiative, funded by the University of Manitoba through PHDA, is being piloted in Ethiopia as part of a broader effort to enhance health systems and address disparities in key populations. PHDA, a non-profit organization affiliated with the University of Manitoba, collaborates with national and municipal stakeholders to support health and development programs across 15 African countries.
Wehrmeister’s participation underscores ICEH’s commitment to advancing global health equity through capacity-building and international collaboration. By equipping subnational institutions with the tools to harness health data, this initiative aims to drive meaningful change in health policy and practice.
