ICEH's Aluisio Barros Joins Faculty at ECE Immersion Program in Portugal

Professor Aluisio Barros, Executive Director at the International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH), is currently participating as an instructor at the Early-Career-Epidemiologist Immersion Program in Porto, which runs from November 17 to 23, 2024. This program, organized by the International Epidemiological Association (IEA), offers a unique opportunity for early-career epidemiologists to enhance their skills and network with leading experts in the field.
The six-day intensive program aims to provide participants with essential tools for career advancement while fostering mentoring relationships. Professor Barros joins a team of experts from across the globe, including academics from institutions like McMaster University, University of Cape Town, and Bristol University, among others.
Throughout the program, a diverse range of topics will be covered, including social determinants of health, causal inference, and the impacts of climate change on public health. Each day involves sessions for one-on-one mentoring, allowing participants to engage directly with faculty members.
Professor Barros' involvement highlights the ICEH's active role in shaping the future of epidemiology through collaborative and educational initiatives.
