The International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH) is honored to share that Janaina Calu Costa received the 2024 Dame Valerie Beral Fellowship, awarded by the International Epidemiological Association (IEA). The fellowship awards enable female early-career epidemiologists to attend the upcoming World Congress of Epidemiology, which will be held from 24 to 27 September in Cape Town, South Africa.

The fellowship has been created to honor the memory and legacy of Professor Dame Valerie Beral, a world-leading breast cancer epidemiologist whose research has contributed enormously to the field of women’s health. She served as IEA President from 2014 to 2017.
