The Countdown to 2015 is funding an extensive study to assess the performance of six countries, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania and Peru, towards achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in maternal and child health.

The Equity Center provides technical support to researchers from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in the case study on Peru. The type of support includes evaluation of the country’s progress in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health since 1990 using a set of indicators as well as survey analysis of political and socioeconomic determinants on the development and implementation of care public health programs.

Researchers Huicho Luis and and Eddy Segura, representatives from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia visited the Equity Center between 19 and 24 May, 2014. Working together with the Equity team, the group defined a thorough analysis strategy and successfully established a production plan for their presentation in the 2014 Partners' Forum, scheduled for 30 July – 1 August in Johannesburg, South Africa, by the partner institutions of Countdown to 2015.
