Meeting of young researchers from Rio Grande do Sul
Professor Aluisio Barros was invited to speak at the first "Meeting of young researchers from Rio Grande do Sul - research culture and environment in the State and their determinants" on his work for which he received the award "Gaucho Investigator 2018 - special award for Science for the Reduction of Inequalities". His lecture was presented on the 19 Oct 2019 at the Cultural Center of UFRGS, Porto Alegre and covered his work on health equity and his role as one of the founders of the International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH, equidade.org) and the trajectory of the Center since its creation in 2009. The focus of the talk was Brazil's progress in health indicators and the importance of monitoring health outcomes and interventions with an equity lens in mind. Dr Rochele Fachinetto, one of the organizers chaired the discussion after the talk.
