Women Deliver: The 3rd Global Conference - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Our directors, Professor Cesar Victora and Professor Aluisio Barros, will participate in the largest global conference on girls' and women's health and empowerment of the decade: Women Deliver 2013 on May 28-30 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This landmark event will be the gathering place for an anticipated 5,000 attendees from across the globe. Participants will include Heads of State, government and UN officials, development officials, youth, corporate executives, healthcare professionals, academics, and advocates who all share a commitment to improve the lives of girls and women. Women Deliver 2013's program will feature more than 100 sessions, including high-level plenaries, concurrent panels, special lunch dialogues with global leaders, and side and evening events. All sessions will relate to the overarching themes of Investing in Girls and Women; Reducing Unmet Need; and Looking to 2015 and Beyond. Dr Victora and Dr Barros will present new data from the equity coverage working group showing the importance of targeted efforts to reach the poorest population groups to overall progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4 and 5 and universal coverage. Evidence on nutrition and equity as well as a gender gap analysis and analysis of urban/rural differentials in coverage will also be discussed.
