New methodology page: how the ICEH Repository data are produced
The International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH) has launched a new Methodology page offering a transparent and detailed account of how the ICEH Repository is built, maintained, and regularly updated.
Designed to meet a growing demand for clarity around data production and use, the page outlines the data sources underpinning the repository, the standardized procedures used to estimate health indicators, and the extensive disaggregation by equity dimensions that enables meaningful comparisons across populations. It also describes the analytical platform that supports routine updates and robust quality control.
A key feature of the methodology is its emphasis on transparency, comparability over time and across countries, and data quality. These principles are ensured through systematic validation procedures and the retrospective recalculation of indicators whenever international definitions or standards are updated, preserving the consistency of historical trends.
The page also highlights that the ICEH Repository is publicly available through the ICEH Retriever, allowing users to access and download ready-to-use, equity-disaggregated health indicators, along with detailed metadata. By providing standardized and validated estimates, the repository helps streamline analyses, reduce technical burden, and minimize common sources of error associated with direct microdata processing.
The new ICEH repository page aims to support researchers, policymakers, and practitioners by improving transparency, facilitating reproducible analyses, and strengthening the use of equity-focused health data.
