Countdown to 2030: Regional Initiative to Strengthen the Analytical Capacity and Evidence for Nutrition in West Africa

Countdown to 2030 – Regional Initiative to Strengthen the Analytical Capacity and Evidence for Nutrition in West Africa – Second Advanced Analytical Workshop: Dakar, 14 – 18 October 2019

The second workshop was held under the theme: “Leaving no woman and no child behind: levels and trends in inequalities in nutrition coverage and status among women, children, and adolescents", and facilitated by a team of experts from the Johns Hopkins University, International Center for Equity in Health - Pelotas (ICEH), African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), UNICEF, Alive and Thrive/FHI360, and West African Health Organization (WAHO).

Country participants received training to interpret data in terms of trends and inequities, produced policy brief drafts, on each of the ECOWAS countries, highlighting specific evidence in nutrition inequities, contextual facts, policy and program landscape, gaps and calls to action. Participants made daily evaluations that showed they were satisfied with the acquired competences. Regional profiles also were made on inequalities in key topics. In the end, everyone agreed that the workshop activities have to be maintained, and the results should be widely valorized.
